The story of "Cinderella" embodies the classic folk tale of oppression vs. triumph, which originated in China in 860 AD. The popular well-known version that we know today was written by Charles Perrault in 1697.
A slightly similar but changed animated version was created by Walt Disney for the movie screen in 1950.
